User videos of the Batmobile first surfaced online last week. More recently, a mysterious blonde woman was spotted in the Batmobile's passenger seat. (Was it Scarlett Johansson? Unclear.) Fans on set also captured a callback to the first film’s fictional narcotic, “drops”, in the form of anti-drug ads on Gotham City cabs.
Now, multiple videos have appeared across social media showing the roaring Batmobile doing donuts on the (fake) snowy streets of Glasgow, er, Gotham City, Gotham City police vehicles chasing it, the GCPD surrounding the Batmobile, and SWAT officers opening fire on it at point blank range. A SWAT vehicle was also spotted ramming the Batmobile at one point.

Director Matt Reeves’ The Batman portrayed a tense but ultimately fruitful alliance between the Caped Crusader and the GCPD, particularly with Lt. Jim Gordon. The film’s ending showed Batman saving the mayor and other citizens from the Riddler. Public sentiment about Batman seemed to be turning in the superhero’s favor.
So now, seeing the police chasing and firing at the Batmobile clearly shows the alliance between Batman and the GCPD has deteriorated. Batman is being treated as an outlaw. Whether this also puts Batman at odds with Gordon personally remains to be seen.

Despite the incessant rumor-mongering online, The Batman: Part II remains largely (officially) shrouded in mystery. Sebastian Stan may or may not be playing Harvey Dent, while Colin Farrell’s Penguin is only going to be in a couple of scenes. The film’s wintry setting has even led some fans to speculate that Mister Freeze must be involved.
We’ll just have to wait and see what the truth is when The Batman: Part II opens in theaters on February 18, 2028.
