LEGO is getting ready to sunset 18 sets from the Star Wars theme, according to the 'last chance to buy' section of its website. These sets range from everything like Brick Headz and playsets for kids, to scale models and display sets. The retirement dates on LEGO sets aren't always entirely clear, but it's fair to assess that these will be retired in the coming months as 2025 comes to a close. Once a set is retired, it will be difficult to find anywhere at its normal retail price. There is some strategy on the best time to buy LEGO sets, and the sets that are about to retire will sometimes get steep discounts during sales events. So it's worth checking out what's on the chopping block ahead of the LEGO Black Friday sale.
LEGO Star Wars Sets Retiring Soon
Some of the most notable sets included in this batch of retirees are Din Djarin's ship the Razor Crest from the Mandalorian, The Onyx Cinder from Skeleton Crew, the X-Wing Starfighter, and the Mos Espa Podrace Dioroma. Personally, I'm a big fan of the buildable Droideka model and the Duel on Peridea set, which comes with some great minifigure versions of characters from Disney+'s Ahsoka show. These sets cover pretty much every era of Star Wars, spanning the prequel trilogy and the Clone Wars, the original trilogy with the Tantive IV scale model, and the sequel trilogy and beyond, so there's really something for everyone if a certain time period speaks to you more than others.
LEGO Brick Headz are a staple of almost every property they make sets out of. The Revenge of the Sith Heroes & Villains collection has some of the coolest designs I've seen of the buildable figures I've seen, with General Grievous and Emperor Palpatine being some of the highlights. Then you have Clone Commander Cody on his own, which is a faithful recreation of the Clone who serves Obi-Wan Kenobi. And if collecting minifigures is more your bag, many of these sets include some exclusive characters that will surely become much harder to obtain once they're retired.
We don't quite have the official dates for retirement, but according to BrickEconomy, the Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader and Revenge of the Sith Heroes & Villains Brick Headz sets will likely be sunsetted by the end of 2025.
