We already knew that Bethesda Game Studios was working on a massive DLC expansion for Starfield, Shattered Space. Today, at the Xbox Games Showcase, the developer unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming expansion, which shows a new planet, creepy atmosphere, and intense gameplay.
The first DLC trailer for Shattered Space opened with the player's spaceship heading towards the planet Dazra, known as the hidden homeworld for the illusive faction House Va'Ruun. "Investigate a frightening cosmic threat, explore a new planet, and find unique weapons, spacesuits, and gear in this all-new adventure," Starfield's official website explains in a new page dedicated to the Shattered Space expansion.
Bethesda previously confirmed it was working on the Shattered Space DLC, but today's Xbox Showcase was the first time the studio gave us a proper look at the story expansion. Our first unofficial glimpse came in the Starfield May 2024 update video, where we got a quick snippet of a development team member working on an unseen purple-hued planet.
Alongside a first look at the Shattered Space expansion, Bethesda Game Studios also confirmed that a new free update for Starfield will arrive later today. Patch notes for the next update have yet to be released.
In our review of Starfield, my colleague Dan Stapleton wrote: "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."
