LEGO has cultivated a fair share of video game collaborations over the last several years, from Super Mario Bros. to Animal Crossing. Among those collaborations, Sonic the Hedgehog has become one of the most popular LEGO sets for kids.

Sonic is having a big year in the multimedia space with Sonic Prime ending on a high note with its third season, Knuckles: The Series releasing to critical acclaim on Paramount+, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 releasing in theaters in December, and Sonic x Shadow Generations and Sonic Rumble coming out later this year. Thanks to Sonic’s rebound in popularity, LEGO has memorialized almost every iconic scene from the games brick by brick, even going so far as to place LEGO versions of Sonic and his friends as skins in Sonic Superstars.

To that end, we scoured LEGO’s website to find the five best Sonic LEGO sets for you to add to your collection and ignite your kids’ imagination. These are some of the best Sonic toys you can buy in 2024.

Sonic's Speed Sphere Challenge

Sonic’s Speed Sphere Challenge is the best Sonic LEGO set to start with. It comes with the speed sphere that you can put Sonic in, a star spring launcher to propel him through obstacles, like the loop gateway, rings to collect, and a ramp with a white Chaos Emerald at the top of the hill, along with a Motobug to beat and a Flicky to save, to give kids an opportunity to recreate the experience of running through Green Hill Zone in Sonic 1.

There’s also a speaker and beach set for Sonic to kick and relax after all the work of kicking badnik butt. At $35, it’s a great starter Sonic LEGO set for kids and adults alike.

Shadow the Hedgehog Escape

The Shadow the Hedgehog Escape set allows you to put a spin on Shadow’s escape from Prison Island. You get a lab capsule that Shadow can escape from that is somewhat reminiscent of the cryogenic capsule Eggman woke him from in Sonic Adventure 2 with one major difference — it’s standing upright. The lab also has an arm barrier Shadow has to ride past with his motorcycle, dubbed Dark Rider, before it slams shut.

What makes this set even more exciting is the addition of the RhinoBot, which Shadow must beat with his Dark Rider to rescue the Clucky trapped inside. If you are a major Shadow the Hedgehog fan or know someone who is, you can get this action-packed LEGO set for just $20, which is quite a bargain.

Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot

Get into a LEGO-style boss with the Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg Robot set. This set recreates the fight between Sonic and Eggman’s iconic Death Egg mecha suit from Sonic 2, with the speed sphere and launcher to launch the Blue Blur through obstacles and a mini ramp to give him a boost and a good shot at the robot to free the animals inside.

When the fight’s over, Sonic can speed over to the research station, run by Cubot, to take the animals there or rescue them from it and gather intel for the next mission. At $60, this scene is perfect for any mega fan’s Sonic LEGO collection.

Knuckles' Guardian Mech

Knuckles’ Guardian Mech gives you two of the best Sonic characters to role-play — Knuckles and Rouge — for the price of one. You can build Knuckles’ mech to assist the echidna guard the Master Emerald, who swoops in with her glider to try and steal the precious gem from him. Knuckles’ mech contains little green pellets that you can use to catch Rouge, get the Master Emerald back from her, and return it to its rightful place.

When the fight’s over, you can make Knuckles and Rouge fight in hand-to-hand combat and/or have them kiss and make up (so long as there’s no other funny business). You can get double the action for double the fun at only $35.

Amy's Animal Rescue Island

Amy’s Animal Rescue Island is a chill LEGO set that taps into Amy Rose’s nature-loving tendencies. Build the mini island for Amy and Tails to care the animals in, complete with a slide into the pool, sandcastles, a carousel, a kitchen and sleeping areas. To keep badniks from causing harm to the animals under Amy and Tails’ care, you can build a drawbridge to open it with just a tap from Amy’s Piko Piko Hammer and send them to their watery trap.

It’s a nice LEGO set to simulate animal care and fun under the sun. You can add this relaxing LEGO set to your collection for just $50.

How Many Sonic LEGO Sets Are There?
