Amazon has dropped the price of both the 42" and 48" LG Evo C2 4K OLED TV models to $899.99. Amazon Prime cardholders also get an extra 10% cashback, essentially dropping the price to $809.99. If you're an Amazon Prime member and don't have an Amazon Prime Card, then you're missing out. This is a zero annual fee card that gives you 5% cashback on all purchases at Amazon as well as bigger cashback discounts such as this deal. Although marketed as HDTVs, these are some of the best PC gaming monitors you can get.

The 42" and 48" models are LG's smallest OLED TVs. They perform admirably as gaming TVs, but where they really shine are as PC gaming monitors. These "monitors" have a higher pixer density than their larger siblings and are small enough to (barely) fit on your gaming desk. They feature HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K @ 120Hz and VRR when connected to a PS5, Xbox Series X, or RTX 40 series gaming PC as well as sub-1ms response times, ALLM, and native G-SYNC compatibility for zero tearing and ghosting. For PC gamers, these TVs support 4:4:4 chroma sampling for clear, sharp text. As always, the OLED panel blows away any IPS, VA, or TN monitor in terms of HDR, black levels and color rendition.
Improvements over its predecessor
The 2022 C2 model has an improved "Evo" OLED panel over the C1. Previously reserved only for the LG G-series OLED TVs, the Evo panel offers higher brightness levels, one of the few areas that traditional LED LCD TVs have OLEDs beat.
Price comparison vs other brands
You won't find a gaming monitor under $1K that can beat the LG Evo C2 in terms of image quality. It's closest competitors are something like the 48" Samsung Neo G9 Mini LED sells for $1450 on Amazon. It has a 5120x1440 resolution, which is technically 11% less pixels than a true 4K TV. Mini LED is a different technology with its own set of advantages and disadvantages, but it is certainly not a superior technology to OLED, and definitely not worth the ridiculous $900 price premium. Dell also has a 34" Alienware QD-OLED that sells for $1200. Not only is it more expensive, but the screen size is smaller and only sports a 3440x1440 resolution, which equates to 40% less pixels.
Should I wait for the new 2023 C3 model?
If you're wondering about the new 2023 C3 TVs that are going to be released soon, there doesn't seem to be much of an improvement. For 2023, LG announced a new tech called "Brightness Booster Max" that supposedly offers up to 70% greater peak brightness than previous generation TVs. Unfortunately, this feature will only be available in the more expensive LG G3 model, not the C3. So, for now, it seems like the better decision would be to potentially save hundreds of dollars and get the C2.
