In addition to the casting news, Paramount released a teaser trailer for Star Trek: Picard Season 3.

“I remember watching the premiere of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday. It was the spark that ignited my love for science fiction,” said Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas. "So, it’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire STAR TREK: PICARD team and I can’t wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!”

Burton, Dorn, Frakes, McFadden, Sirtis, and Spiner comprised the core cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation during its seven season run in the 90s. Their characters have made scattered appearances throughout Star Trek: Picard, but Season 3 is truly getting the gang back together.

Picard debuted in 2020 and is currently available on Paramount Plus. In IGN's review of Star Trek: Picard Season 2's premiere, Scott Collura wrote that it course-corrected many of the debut season's mistakes while bringing back many of its most iconic characters. Elsewhere, Paramount Plus is streaming multiple Star Trek shows including Strange New Worlds, which is set to debut on May 5.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 is currently streaming on Paramount Plus in the U.S with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.
